Visit Burnley Library basement level for the 'Clarets Collected: A football Town Archive' being developed by Lancashire Archives. The core of the collection arrived at the library in April 2023 - personal collections donated by a small group of fans but the the archive continues to grow. There is an exhibition 'Bob Lord - Burnley Born and Bred', which was first shown at Towneley Hall in 2019. In the corridor of the basement a new, second exhibition, of images from the Burnley Civic Trust Heritage Image Collection of Express photographs is on display - In the Paper: Clarets Fans and the Burnley Express.

On Saturday 13th April 2024, 11am to 2pm there is a Family Drop In event to celebrate a new exhibition of fans photographs 'BFC and Me'.

FROM 29TH FEBRUARY UNTIL 13TH MARCH 2020

The Burnley Civic Trust Heritage Image Collection exhibition boards will be touring local venues over the coming months and Coal Clough Library is the first venue, From 28th February 2020, for a period of two weeks, visitors to the library will be able to find out about the project and view 25 images taken from the website. A postcard memento is available to take away which will show more images and give the all important website address.

To celebrate our first year of operation we invite you to come and see how we digitise negatives and newspaper stories and make them free to view on our website. It's an opportunity to see the various materials in the archive, meet some of our volunteers, ask questions and give your comments about the website.

Parking is free on the Town Hall car park. Look our for the brown arched door on the left and the Open Day sign.

Burnley Civic Trust Image Archive will stage an exhibition of photographs of Burnley Football Club from the Burnley Express collection as part of the opening of the Weavers' Triangle Visitor Centre.

Following the relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions, the Weavers' Triangle Visitor Centre on Manchester Road in Burnley will reopen to the public at Spring Bank Holiday. From Saturday 29th May opening times will be from 2pm to 4pm on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays. Admission will be governed by Covid-19 rules - face-covering must be worn, social distancing observed and numbers admitted may be limited. To start with the shop will have limited stock and access and will be unable to serve refreshments.

In addition to the usual displays and the Burnley Civic Trust Image Archive exhibition, the display commemorating the fortieth anniversary of the official opening of the Visitor Centre in July 1980 planned for last year will be retained.

Gannow Exhibition

A collection of photographs from the Burnley Civic Trust Heritage Image Collection will be on display at Gannow Community Centre. The photographs, dating mainly from the 1970's and 80's show scenes, buildings and people from the Gannow area. It is a free event and gives the opportunity to look around the Community Centre and find out what other activities and services are on offer.

As seen above the exhibition board is in the Drop in Cafe area and on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9.30 to 12.30, for a small donation, you can also take advantage of the home made meals on offer.

To celebrate the new Community Hub/Reference Library at Burnley Central Library an exhibition of images from Burnley Civic Trust Heritage Image Archive is on display until the end of Feburary. They show some of the many community events which took place at the library from the late 1960's to the early 1980's, and include lectures, music concerts, public meetings, and all manner of cultural, educational and artistic events.

This is an informal event with a short introductory speech to celebrate the ending of the Heritage Lottery Funded phase of the project.

There will be an opportunity to view fascinating archive images and historic objects from our collection and to chat with fellow guests and volunteers.

West End Schools

West End Community Centre, Venice Street, Burnley

From now until the end of July an exhibition board of images and stories about Hargher Clough, Myrtle Bank and Wood Top Schools is on display at the community centre. Civic Trust Chairman, Edward Walton, will also give a "Now and Then" presentation to the Local History Group at the centre on Thursday the 13th July from 6 to 8 pm.

A collection of photographs from the Burnley Civic Trust Heritage Image Collection will be on display at Gannow Community Centre. The photographs, dating mainly from the 1970's and 80's, are of buildings in Burnley which are no longer in existence.

It is a free event and gives the opportunity to look around the Community Centre and find out what other activities and services are on offer.

St Peter's Church is hosting an event as part of the national Heritage Open Days programme.

Burnley Civic Trust Heritage Image Collection will have a stand at the event and members of the Trust will be manning the stand to answer questions and provide information about the collection.
