Bowls

The majority of bowls matches take place on bowling greens in local parks although there are some works teams and some private greens. For example Green Hill Bowling Club, St Andrew's Bowling Club and the former Bowling Green Hotel which had its own green. There are a range of Leagues including a Women's league and the Foden League which was initiated in 1916 when Councillor C. M. Foden, JP, donated the Foden Challenge Shield. The Burnley Express sponsored many awards and other awards were presented by notable players and club members.
